Bionic Flower — an Education Kit for STEAM
A robotic flower children design, build and program — from picture cards to Arduino. Our art, turned into a classroom.
Our installations make people curious. The Bionic Flower brings that curiosity into the classroom.
Together with Festo we developed a bionic education concept that gets young people excited about nature-inspired engineering — STEAM: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
How it works
Students design their own petals and vase, discover the flower’s natural and artificial components, and change its behaviour — movement and light — by programming it. Beginners use picture cards, intermediate learners the Open Roberta platform, and advanced students the Arduino IDE.
It trains creativity, practical and interdisciplinary work, problem solving and critical thinking.
