AquaJellies — the First Autonomous Underwater Swarm
A swarm of robotic jellyfish that communicate, coordinate and recharge themselves — a world first.
Like their natural model, the AquaJellies glide effortlessly through the water, driven by adaptive tentacles.
Integrated communication and sensors enable coordinated, collective behaviour — even in a limited space. When needed, each jellyfish docks to an underwater charging station on its own, so the swarm can run around the clock. Its condition can be monitored live on a smartphone.
Shown at the Hannover Messe in 2008, it was the world’s first autonomous underwater swarm.
