A robotic dragonfly with four independently controlled wings — a Guinness World Record holder.
A dragonfly is one of the most complex flyers in nature. The BionicOpter can hover, fly in any direction and take virtually any orientation in space.
Our onboard embedded system controls eight servo actuators and a main motor: beat frequency, wing twist and the amplitude of each of the four wings individually.
It premiered at the Hannover Messe and later earned a Guinness World Record as the largest flying robotic insect.
