What if the installation looked back at you?
For Random International’s +/- Human, seven orbs flocked above the Roundhouse. Generative algorithms let them react to their surroundings — they selected individuals from the crowd and responded to them through movement.
What we built
We automated the orbs with the SkySpirit system and designed the interface that lets them react to humans in real time. Dancers from The Royal Ballet performed with the orbs, creating a special relationship between the audience and the objects.
The result
In three weeks the orbs flew more than 1,600 km over 200 hours — a hypnotic experience where technology meets art.
